How to Outsource YouTube Video Production (The Complete Guide)

Devon Canup · March 2026 · 11 min read

The whole point of faceless YouTube is that you don't have to do everything yourself. You're building a media business, not becoming a one-person content machine. Here's exactly how to build a production team that runs without you.

The Three Roles You Need

1. Scriptwriter

Your scriptwriter is the most important hire. A great script can carry mediocre editing. A great edit can't save a bad script.

Where to find them:

What to look for: Give them a test script. Good scriptwriters understand hooks (first 30 seconds), retention loops (open loops that keep people watching), and pacing.

2. Video Editor

For faceless channels, your editor primarily works with stock footage, text animations, and transitions. This is NOT the same as hiring a vlogger's editor.

Where to find them:

3. Voiceover Artist

Two options: human VO or AI VO. Both work. Human VO typically gets 5-15% better retention, but AI is improving fast.

Managing Your Team

Use a simple workflow:

  1. You pick the topic and brief the scriptwriter
  2. Scriptwriter delivers the script in 2-3 days
  3. You review and approve (10 minutes)
  4. Script goes to VO artist → audio back in 1-2 days
  5. Audio + script go to editor → video back in 3-5 days
  6. You review, request revisions if needed, upload

Total time per video for YOU: 30-45 minutes. Everything else is delegated.

Communication Tools
