YouTube RPM by Niche in 2026: Which Categories Pay the Most?

Devon Canup · April 2026 · 8 min read

RPM (Revenue Per Mille) is the single most important number in faceless YouTube. It determines how much money you earn per 1,000 views — and the difference between a $5 RPM niche and a $25 RPM niche is the difference between $500/month and $2,500/month at the same view count.

RPM vs. CPM — What's the Difference?

CPM is what advertisers pay YouTube for 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what YouTube pays you per 1,000 views after its 45% cut. RPM is typically 40–55% of CPM.

If your niche has a $20 CPM, you're earning roughly $8–$11 RPM. Always look at RPM in your YouTube Analytics, not CPM.

2026 RPM Rankings by Niche

Tier 1: $15–$35 RPM (Elite Earners)

Tier 2: $8–$15 RPM (Strong Performers)

Tier 3: $4–$9 RPM (Solid Middle)

Tier 4: $1–$4 RPM (Volume Plays)

Seasonal RPM Fluctuations

Across all niches, RPM peaks in Q4 (October–December) when advertisers compete for holiday budgets. Expect 30–50% higher RPM in November–December vs. Q1. Plan your content calendar and production budget accordingly.

Q1 (January–February) is typically the lowest RPM period. Don't panic — this is normal. Keep publishing consistently.
