Once a video is published and ranking, the AdSense revenue it generates is genuinely passive. You don't need to do anything. A video you uploaded 18 months ago can still drive $200–$2,000/month in completely hands-off income.

Affiliate commissions from links in video descriptions are also passive. Once the link is there, every click that converts earns you money with no further action.

What Requires Ongoing Work

A channel's growth requires consistent uploads. Stop uploading, and your existing videos keep earning (passive) but your channel stops growing. At some point, algorithms de-prioritize inactive channels.

Think of it like a rental property: the rent is passive, but finding new tenants (content), maintaining the property (quality), and growing your portfolio (new channels) requires active work.

The Realistic Income Curve

Here's what "passive income" actually looks like on a timeline:

• Months 1–6: Active investment. You're building, learning, uploading. $0–$500/month.
• Months 7–12: Semi-passive. Your growing library earns while you upload weekly. $500–$3,000/month.
• Years 2–3: Significantly passive. At scale with a team, your time investment is 2–4 hours/week per channel. $5,000–$20,000+/month.

The Scaling Formula

The most successful FCA students don't have one channel making $10K/month. They have 3–5 channels each making $2,000–$5,000/month. Each channel required active work to build — each now runs largely on autopilot with a small team.

That's the real passive income model: build channels, systematize them, build more channels, systematize those too. Your income compounds without your time compounding proportionally.
