To make six figures ($100K+) on YouTube, first get videos going up on a consistent schedule, then become obsessed with one question: what deserves 100,000 views in my niche? When I recorded this, the math I used was that $10,000 a month takes roughly 2 to 4 million views a month, which is about 100,000 views a day. You get there by studying the videos pulling millions of views in niches like yours and copying what they have that you don't.
I recorded this right after a mentorship call with one of the newer students inside my program. I didn't do a whole lot of those calls anymore. I was focused on building my business, and my companies had done over $160,000 in combined revenue the month before (revenue, not profit, but we were very profitable).
That year alone I think we had started up about 12 YouTube channels, which gave me a very different outlook on how to actually get results than I had even six months or a year earlier. So this is the problem I see holding people back.
The reason you're probably not getting results on YouTube (like 90% of you) is that you don't have videos going up on your channel, or you're not being consistent.
If you aren't uploading every single week on a consistent schedule, you're already going to be blown out of the water. We usually start YouTube channels at two videos a week.
So if you're stuck, priority number one is a single question. Are you making videos?
It doesn't need to be that complicated. There are like a thousand buttons inside of YouTube Studio and so many places to get lost. Come up with some video ideas and start.
You need data and inputs coming back to be able to improve. It's going to be embarrassing when you get started. That's how it is for everybody.
Once videos are going out consistently, the next stage is very simple. Become a fanatic. Become obsessed with the destination you want.
You probably want to become very financially successful off of your YouTube channel and be able to quit your job. Cool. Keep that in the back of your head. The priority now is how you get people to care about what you make.
That's the top down order of priorities.
Now fill in the blanks. Say I want to make $10,000 a month on YouTube.
| The goal | What it took when I recorded this |
|---|---|
| $10,000 a month | About 2 to 4 million views a month (maybe 1 to 4 million) |
| 3 million views a month (for simple math) | About 100,000 views a day |
| 100,000 views a day | 100,000 view videos, plus some million view videos |
If one out of every three videos you make is a 100,000 view video, some of those are going to be million view videos, and some are just going to be that 100,000 view video. You need both kinds going out to consistently make $10,000 a month.
To get 100,000 views on a video, ask yourself what deserves 100,000 views in your niche, or in niches that are similar to yours.
Say I'm trying to make $10,000 a month off of a hockey channel. I would go look at other niches like hockey: basketball, football, baseball, soccer. (Basketball, football and soccer were kind of the main three on YouTube when I recorded this.)
Ask what people are doing to have success in those niches and how you can apply it to hockey. Every single day, focus on how to make a 100,000 view video in the hockey niche based off of all that data.
Go watch 100 videos. Go watch 1,000 videos. Find the ones that are getting millions of views, and copy that over to your video.
Then compare:

If you're doing an automated or faceless YouTube channel, you have other people doing the work for you. Ask yourself whether they're helping you get to your goal. Do they make your job really difficult, or are they consistently learning and growing?
If somebody is a liability on your team and not an asset, you need to let them go and find somebody else. The people you keep look like this:
If you don't have those people, spend as much time as needed to go find them. I cover the roles in how to make $100K with faceless YouTube channels.
Be very consistent, show up every single day, learn something new every day, and apply what the successful channels are doing to your channel.
I know this isn't very tactical. It isn't a line of code to copy and paste, or a secret formula. Simply put, make really good videos and have a clear objective you're working toward. $10,000 a month. 3 million views a month. 100,000 view videos going out.
If you actually want to go make money, I would close this and go start producing stuff.
Devon Canup's answer is to get videos going up consistently, then focus every day on making videos that deserve 100,000 views in your niche, working backward from a clear goal like $10,000 a month.
When Devon recorded this in July 2022, he put it at roughly 2 to 4 million views a month. He used 3 million for simple math, which is about 100,000 views a day.
Devon says about 90% of people who aren't getting results either don't have videos going up or aren't uploading consistently. He recommends uploading every single week, and his team usually starts new channels at two videos a week.
Ask what deserves 100,000 views in your niche or in similar niches. Devon's example is a hockey channel studying basketball, football, baseball and soccer videos that get millions of views, then copying what those videos have that yours doesn't.
